keep the fire alive.......

I was reading an excellent article on Ramesh’s blog(Global Madrasi), which quotes Buddha: ““Learn to let go and be free.”- Lord Buddha.

This is very true in my case. I have felt that the thing that you chase always tend to move away from you. The moment you stop chasing it, it comes to you as if by some miracle or divine intervention.

When I was in college I was madly in love with this girl who took great pleasure in avoiding my evident crush. I took Great pain in letting her know the depth of my true feelings for her, through several methods known to me at that time. I even spent most of my pocket money on her, living the rest of the month on 1/4th of the balance that was left of appeasing her. But she avoided me.

Then I got sick of it and decided to leave her and focus on my studies and career. There comes the lady, trying to do all that I did to her to garner her attention. But when I had left my stubborn attachment, I found nothing in her that had made me drool over her earlier and we parted ways, she obviously distressed.

Then comes another instance when I started working and did everything I could to get my career move forward. I slogged for 15 hours a day, worked without leave for months, sacrificed my personal life…etc..but I was denied a promotion which I deserved rightfully. Then having lost all hope I started to take things lightly. I took offs, Started taking sick-leaves, even bunked for silly things like movies…and in 6 months time, I got my first promotion…I couldn’t believe what was happening to me.

There are many more examples which have convinced me that when you desire something from your heart, give your best and move aside: It would definitely come to you.

Or as Confucius says: “ And, When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

Thanks for reading buddy….and keep the fire alive in your bellies…

I have had similar experiences in life...when I slogged a lot like u mentioned to get the TL position, I didn't get it...then slowly I started taking the whole thing in a more relaxed manner, and I got the position within a year...nice post ZB...:)

How true! You know you just sounded like Paulo Coelho in this one, ZB! Especially the 'Universe' quote... made it the more 'The Alchemist' like :)

Loved this post and I truly believe in the same too. You never get things that you want, when you try too hard.

ZB..Nice to see more post from you.I agree and believe in let it go but it is hard at times...my dad gifted me a very beautiful watch on the day of my marriage ,i lost it in my clinic one day,i still miss it ...it was so special to me...I have uncoun table things gifted by him but that moment was very special,may be we linger to those moments and the material things symbolize them.

The other theory by Confucius is very true i too have felt that way many times...we were trying very hard for a kid and one final day after 8 long years we decided to stop the treatment and now i have two kids...GOD IS GREAT!!!

@Ramesh: Thanks...pleasure was mine..:)

@Neha: very true....we manically chase or search happiness, when true happiness only comes from detachment and letting things go...:)

@Hary:Thats so true buddy..:)

@@Dhanya: Thanks...Alchemist? may be i quoted unconsciously...having read the book several times...Its one of my fav books.very correctly said.

@kavita: Thanks Dear. The same is true in my case too...I had a daughter after 4 years of marriage and after a miscarriage...and at the very unexpected moment. Very true in life. :)

What you can do is to put in your best.You must do so.
Do not link it to immediate benefits.
Honest and hard work always pays.....that is my experience.

Aha!!! Nice introspective post without being preachy :-)

I believe that sometimes when we try too hard we expect results too fast and thus the disappointment!!!

Yes - a weird but true way of the Universe. Let go and let God. I never understood it but experienced, growing up, then when I was lonely and looking for someone it never happened. But when I went about enjoying life, people came to me.

I heartily agree. I am though not sure if things comes back or not but anyways positive thinking never killed anyone.

BTW, it was Paulo Coelho or Confucius.

This is really true for me. In my last job, I was always trying to impress and going out of my way, working extra and slogging but nothing happended.
In my present job, I took things easy and did just my job earnestly and didn't overdo it. Within six months I got a promotion.
Great post ZB:)

So very well said! Just tell them to go to hell and they keep coming back for more!

I hv read that line so many times... about the Universe conspiring to gv u what u want... didn't know it was Confucius who said this. Now I do! :)

@ anonymous: Just my personal take... I have always seen that men who are hopelessly in love with their spouse seem more relaxed abt 'love'. They are able to express 'love' in various colors... emotion, passion, humor, pain...
